CLAWFINGER Commence Recording Process For Fifth Album
August 22, 2002Swedish rap metallers CLAWFINGER have finally commenced the recording process for their fifth full-length CD at a recording studio they co-own with MESHUGGAH in the outskirts of Stockholm, according to the latest online posting from frontman Zak Tell.
"We're not completely lazy as we have now been writing songs for about half a year, and thanks to that we have about 20 songs to choose from," the singer stated. "We have just started the first real recording sessions for the new album, so we are heading in the right direction and we're about to make one hell of a killer fuckin' CLAWFINGER album. So far we have recorded all the drums and bass on four tracks and we did the first vocals today (Tuesday, August 20th),so we still have a lot of work to do, but so far it sounds damn good, and it will sound even better once we have added all the additional sounds, effects and flavors on top of the basic tracks. We have been recording live drums with Henka and live bass with Andre, so it's going to be a real classic rock'n'roll album compared to the last one. We've also been doing a few festivals all around Europe in between the songwriting sessions, which has made it harder to concentrate on the recordings, but I think that maybe doing the live gigs can actually help us to make an album that has more of a live feel to it, which could turn out to be a very interesting thing in the computerized world of CLAWFINGER.
"I guess to be realistic about the time schedule for the new album, I have to say that we're probably looking at a late January/early February release. Once again, I don't want to promise anything, but I know we won't be releasing an album before then, as we want to make sure that all the pieces are in place. There is a lot of work to be done even when the songs are all recorded and ready—cover artwork, photo sessions, video scripts, tour schedules and everything else have to be planned and organized and all these things take time."
